Meeting Minutes
from Skywarn Review on May 13, 2010:1. NET CONTROL:
a. Net run on 145.250 linked to Oak Harbor 443.850 pl 186.2 tx.
b. Go thru net control at all times. I was told some could not get into repeater. Too much traffic.
c. Mobile cannot be net control.
d. Should have emergency power. Don’t forget radios in vehicles as backup.
e. Monitor police and fire bands.
f. Monitor Toledo TV.
g. Should be 2 at net control.
h. Use last 3 of call sign when in red condition, net and mobiles.
i. Notify Sheriff of changes to watches or warnings and any significant event 419-334-6434.
j. Notify Chris Moch of watches or warnings and any significant event.
k. Notify Huron and/or Eric Counties or other counties time permitting. Call on their radio frequency.
l. Contact list to be furnished to all by Jeff Herman.
m. Have list of other county frequencies and pl tones. Program in your radio. See aressc.org website.
n. Check ups every 10 minutes went well.
o. County map at net control to locate mobiles.
p. Use Cleveland phone number on Skywarn card if District 1 is not up.
q. Repeater link codes furnished at EC discretion.
r. Repeater weather mode code.
s. Latest net scripts.
t. Are we going to use EOC radio room anymore for net control?
u. Who has good radar at home? StormLab or Weathertap or other?
v. Storm spotter software up and running? Do not use at this time.
w. Need net control training.
2. MOBILE:
a. Mobile to mobile use 146.910 repeater or 147.430 simplex. Other options are Clyde repeater 145.350 pl 110.9 or Fremont repeater 443.450 no pl.
b. One person will be liaison with net control.
c. Monitor net and mobile frequencies at same time.
d. Have list of other county frequencies and pl tones. Program in your radio.
e. APRS with GPS to auto transmit position, future.
f. Radar in mobiles (cell phone or internet) or net control reporting storm radar.
g. Wear vests, either red or yellow/green. Protection when out of car.
h. Buy and use Skywarn spotter ID on vehicle.
i. Camera, stop and take pictures of damage and clouds and note time and place.
j. Stay in county. If funnel cloud or tornado keep tracking.
k. County maps in mobiles so we know how to report locations better.
l. Binoculars to look for rotation in wall clouds.
m. Coordination of views of same clouds was good.
n. Police and fire monitors in mobiles?
o. Watch clouds for a short time before reporting rotation, try to be sure.
p. Skywarn number is 419-557-8348.
q. EOC number is 419-334-6426.
3. OTHER STUFF:
a. Use notification system (Dave to get setup with Seneca County).
b. Setup meeting with Sheriff on Wednesday May 19 or Tuesday May 25th or Friday May 28th.
c. What do we spend donations on to improve? More lime green vests and signs for mobiles.
d. Packet radio? Seneca County is getting it up and running.
e. Put frequencies on ARES website. Done
f. Set up 440 repeater at WFRO?
g. Set up ARES account at Croghan Bank.
